Getting Stranger is an ongoing series of photographs. The criteria is simple: Find a stranger. Look them in the eyes. Spend a minimum of five minutes with them.
Getting Stranger is a new series of photographs I have recently begun to shoot. The criteria is simple: Find a stranger. Look them in the eyes. Spend a minimum of five minutes with them.
Last night while I was shooting an event at John Allan’s in Tribeca I met a very kind and interesting man named Khalil Jenkins. He told me he was a fashion designer so I asked him to elaborate. He said he designs the clothing of the future. Again, I asked him to elaborate. After some back and forth he said, “You know what, I can show you. I wore one of my coats tonight.” So we walked over to the coat check together and he put on his coat. I had never seen anything quite like it.
Standing there wearing his coat he said, “it is the future, now. Do you know what I mean?” He told me “this is now.” He paused briefly. “And now it’s the future.” “And now,” he paused again only this time slightly longer, “it’s the future again.” This pattern repeated itself several more times… into the future.
